Ingredients:

  • 1 ¾ cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 cup white sugar
  • ¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup strong brewed coffee
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • ½ cup of vegetable oil
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F

Grease and flour one 9×13-inch pan.

In a large bowl combine flour, sugar, cocoa, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.

Make a well in the center.

Add eggs, coffee, buttermilk, oil, and vanilla.

Beat for 2 minutes on medium speed.

Batter will be thin.

Pour into prepared pans.

Bake for 30-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.

Cool for 10 minutes, then remove from pans and finish cooling on a wire rack.

Recipe Notes

Tip: I drizzle the cake with the white icing (pre-made in the tube that you buy at the store) and make the cake you like spider webs all over it. The kids like corn candy so I’ll let them put those on top, too.
